2012 Installation of Officers

On Saturday, November 19th, John W. Barkley Lodge #621 celebrated its 99th Annual Installation of Officers with a great evening of food, fun, and fellowship.  Our Worshipful Master - Elect, Bro. Ramzi Jammal, was installed as the Worshipful Master of John W. Barkley Lodge.  We had over 100 in attendence to support our new line of officers.  Congratulations to all of them and best wishes on all of their endeavors during this 2012 Masonic year.

This event continues to bring home the meaning of the relationship that we've established with St. George Lodge #367 in Toronto, Ontario.  The tradition was passed to Barkley Lodge during the merger with Cornerstone Lodge in 2008.  In such a short time many friendships have been formed and the participation between the Lodges has increased.  Sadly we only see each other twice a year for our respective installation of officer ceremonies.  We are proud to be part of such a rich and wonderful tradition and hopefully we can find ways to visit more frequently in the near future.

Thank you to all of the Brothers and ladies that made the trip from Toronto!

A bit of history

As you may know our 2012 Installation of Officers is approaching and with that will be our yearly visitation with our Brothers and friends from St. George Lodge #367 in Toronto, Ontario.  I recently found this article from the Grand Lodge of British Columbia and Yukon and would highly recommend it as a good read and refresher of our history on this continent.

Here we learn about the history of Freemasonry in the U.S. and Canada.  As we continue the very long standing tradition with St. George Lodge let us celebrate the history of our Order here and there.

See our calendar for the dates and times of our Annual Meeting and Installation.

3rd Annual Chili Competition - Recap

[caption id="attachment_158" align="aligncenter" width="630" caption="Chili Row - Our 2011 Contestants"]Chili Row[/caption]

This past weekend John W. Barkley Lodge conducted its 3rd annual chili competition. There were twelve crock pots fighting for first and second place. It was a great time with great food and great fun! We raised over $400 for the charities to which Barkley Lodge contributes.

First place this year went to our Junior Deacon, Bro. Bill Hill. Second place was awarded to our Senior Deacon, Bro. R. Scott Brochhagen.

Thanks to all of our contestants for their time and efforts in making this event a big success. Another thanks to everyone that came to enjoy the chili and help us raise money for these important charities!

Awards Night - Recap

On Wed., January 12th, 2011, John W. Barkley Lodge held its annual Awards Night to honor our 25, 50, 60, and 65 year members. We had a great dinner with our award recipients and their families. We were honored to have many Grand Lodge Officers present at this event including two District Education Officers, WB Bob Stands and WB Mark Bollinger, the Grand Chaplain of Ohio, RWB Robert Behner, our District Deputy Grand Master, RWB Steven Behm, and finally the Grand Master of Masons in Ohio, MWB Bradford A. Goebel.

It was truly an honor to have these distinguished individuals assist with our Awards Night ceremony. Thank you to all of them for coming out to Barkley Lodge that evening.

We had quite a few award recipients and in proper form, Grand Honor was extended to those eligible. This evening was capped off by an array of great desserts and I am happy to say that everyone had a great time.

Congratulations to all of our award recipients!

Past Masters Night – Recap

On Wed, December 22nd, we had our annual Past Masters Night celebration at John W. Barkley Lodge. This year we invited the ladies to the Lodge for a wonderful dinner. After dinner the Brethren retired into the Lodge where the Past Masters conferred the Fellow Craft degree on a candidate. We also had a speaker for our ladies. It was a great evening and the Past Masters once again prove that they have not lost their step in degree work!

We would like to thank everyone that helped prepare dinner/dessert as well as assist in the degree work.
